Credit Cards and Payments
Is it safe to use my credit card?
Our affiliated hotel booking agencies use SSL (Security Socket Layer) encryption technology, to ensure the complete security of your personal information and credit card details. These systems encrypt the credit card number and encodes it into a non-usable form so that it can not be intercepted or used by anyone else.
What credit card types are accepted for guarantee/deposit of hotel bookings?
Each hotel has their own preferences on which cards they accept for booking or reservation of hotel rooms. The card types accepted are listed in the information page of the hotel.
Please note that if you provide an American Express or Diners Club credit card for payment of your booking, the transaction may be charged in a different currency to the one in which your booking rates were quoted. The cost of your booking is converted using the bank's exchange rates on the day of the transaction.
What exactly does the hotel do with my credit card?
When you book/reserve a room at a hotel our affiliated hotel booking agency sends your credit card details to the hotel's reservation system. This will be held as a guarantee an no charges made; the only time the credit card will be charged is in case of non-arrival or cancellation. Some hotels will carry out an electronic pre-authorisation to ensure that the credit card is valid and that sufficient funds are available to cover the cost of the first nights accommodation charge.
Your hotel bill must be fully settled on your departure from the hotel directly. At this point your credit card will be charged - unless you decide to pay in cash or another payment method acceptable to the hotel.
Do I need a credit card to make a reservation for a hotel room?
Yes. Bookings can only be accepted with a valid credit card to secure the reservation.
Can I make a hotel booking without a credit card?
No, booking hotel rooms without a credit card is not possible. All the Hotels require credit card details (as a form of guarantee) to reserve a room. If you do not cancel the reservation within the cancellation notice period, and you do not arrive at the hotel, the hotel is entitled to charge the credit card for the first night's accommodation only. They will then release the room and sell it to other guests. If the hotels had no credit card details they would risk being left with an empty room and no payment. This is why a credit card is needed - to guarantee the booking.
Can I pay for the hotel room by cash instead of a credit card?
Yes you can usually pay with cash when you arrive at the hotel. However, in order to make the booking we do need your credit card details to guarantee the booking. Some hotels may charge an initial booking fee to your card at the time of reservation. If you want to pay in cash, you can settle the outstanding amount in cash.
Can I pay with more than one credit card?
You may be able to split the payment over two cards. Both card types must be acceptable by the hotel. If you want to pay with a different card than the one you used during reservation, again it must be accepted by the hotel.
Can my Company be invoiced for my hotel room?
We are not able to arrange credit between you and the hotel. Hotels will usually accept company credit card payment with required authorisations (photocopy of both sides of the card, as well as authorisation letter/fax from the card holder). If you require a Full VAT invoice to be sent by the hotel upon check out of the guest, please ask the hotel.
Can I book and pay for someone else?
You can both make and pay for a reservation as a third party. If you are not present at the time of transaction you will be required to supply the hotel with written authorisation and photocopy of the back and front of your card.
Will my card be charged before I arrive at the hotel?
Usually your card is only used as a guarantee of your arrival and will only be authorised prior to arrival. Some hotels, where stated, take a deposit (up to one night's stay). The is refundable if you cancel within the cancellation period.
Does the hotel need a deposit or a payment in advance?
Normally you pay when you check out. You will pay for your stay at the hotel. If the hotel requires a deposit, it will be mentioned on the information page of the hotel. Some hotels perform a pre-authorization check on your credit card as an extra guarantee. This is a check to reserve a certain amount that would guarantee the room. This amount may correspond to the price of one night or to the total costs of your reservation. Once the credit card has been validated, the reserved amount will be released.
How can I get a refund on charges to my card?
We never charge your credit card. If a charge has been performed by the hotel, you need to contact them directly for a refund.
